House & Travel Plans Update

Leaving Venice, we were really excited to see what progress had been made on our house over the last week. However, we had a 3rd tire blowout this year while driving on I-75. Emi said we were going to have a blowout because “we always have one when we go to Pineapple Land.” The tire that blew was at 30psi as I was doing my checks of the rig before leaving – so I blew it back up to 65psi before driving. I got the tire changed with a bit of help from the same highway patrol person as a different blowout and we made it safely to our destination.

So here’s where the house progress stood on Sunday evening after we’d gotten settled:

Not a ton of progress – but the plumbing had been laid and trenches were likely still open for inspection. We were slightly disappointed, but not wholly surprised.

Regarding our trip north for the summer, we’d planned on leaving Friday evening and driving to Lazydays for a night. Then making it about to Nashville by Sunday where we’d spend a week – so I wouldn’t have to take any days off of work. After the week, we’d finish the journey and stay at a local RV park to catch up with everyone and then head to the lake house for the summer.

However, because of the 3rd flat, we’re sort of done pulling the RV across the country. Sure, now all of our tires are new and should be fine, but it’s just a fear that will take some time to heal. So we’re pushing back our return trip by a week – going to store the RV locally here in SW Florida and just drive in a weekend all the way back north. It gives us another week to watch the house and eases our fears about tires and other travel-related damage.

We visited the house every day after work this week. Some days, nothing got done. Others, there was progress. It seems like we’re ready for the foundation to be poured – hopefully before we leave!
