Venice: Shark Teeth, Mimi & Papa, & Exploring!

We spent a day or two in Venice back on our big RV trip in 2018. It was a good meeting point between Naples and Tampa for dropping off and picking up our kids. This time around, we found a great deal to stay at a superb RV resort – $35/night! In season, this place is $90/night and booked to the brim! It has a great pool, splash pad, playground, and full hookups! And just 15 minutes from the beaches of Venice!

As we pulled into the resort and headed to our site, we saw an RV with the words “Less House, More Living” on the front. I recognized it from a YouTube video about batteries that I watched when our battery was dead. I double-checked and sure enough, it was the same rig! We watched the RV every time we went by hoping to meet them, and finally did on our last night there! They are a super nice family that’s been full-timing in their RV for over 3 years. They repainted the inside and outside of their RV and have done a lot of work. It was really fun meeting a YouTube star in person! Such a small world!

After one night alone, Mimi and Papa came to visit from Naples. They enjoyed their drive being an hour and fifteen minutes instead of the 2-ish hours up to Sarasota from their last RV visit. We took them to hunt for shark teeth at Caspersen Beach. Emerson hated it until he sat on a bench with Mimi and Papa singing songs. Adelaide got pretty good at finding shark teeth as the evening went on. Karissa found the most and I found a good number as well. It was a lot of fun. We grabbed Checker’s on the way home that night.

The next day, we decided to explore Venice a bit. Mimi and Papa enjoy going through houses as much as us, so that meant we visited some model homes in various new communities. It’s a great way to learn about design trends, what buyers want, and see some awesome homes and amenities without any sales pressure. It would be like living on a permanent vacation in many of the places down here! We found a few great homes and really loved Grand Palm, a Neal Community.

One thing that’s inevitable when Mimi and Papa visit is nap time.

After a quick snooze at the pool, Mimi and Adelaide read books and chatted. Emerson napped. Karissa napped. And Papa took another nap. I wandered around and took in the RV resort.

We loved our time in Venice. We had a ball with Mimi and Papa. The RV resort, Rambler’s Rest, was an absolute steal for $35/night. We’re moving a bit north next to Sun-N-Fun, but are considering coming back to this resort again before really moving north.
