Last Stay at Lazydays?

It’s no secret that we LOVE staying at Lazydays RV Resort just outside of Tampa, Florida. The pool is warm. The staff and fellow guests are happy and friendly. And it’s just the right size. But this latest 5 night stay might wind up being our last. After all, we planned to sell the RV last summer before deciding to have one more adventure. And this is that final adventure.

In any event, we enjoyed our time here. We spent too much time in the pool 🙂 and not enough time exploring RVs. It’s too darn hot to walk around a parking lot this time of year, as much as we like exploring RV layouts.

We discovered a local eatery called Martha’s that had amazing Google reviews. It was just a few minutes away. And everything about the experience (and food) was unbelievably awesome!

The pool rules at Lazydays are about as easygoing as can be. It’s part of the charm of the place. And the few rules that do exist on this board are not enforced. The main rule is don’t bother other people, don’t be an idiot, and HAVE FUN! It’s refreshingly simple compared to other RV parks.

I talk about the pool rules being so relaxed because we woke up one day to this image:

It scared us! We had noticed upon our arrival that the water seemed cloudy. So the next morning, the pool was closed with no signs and tape all around. The office said they had to shock it clean. Apparently, there was a watermelon eating contest in the pool over the weekend and that’s why it was so cloudy. Think about that for a second: watermelon eating contest in the pool! Where else but Lazydays would that be encouraged and/or allowed! By the afternoon, the pool was reopened, so it wasn’t too big of a deal.

Because we couldn’t get our fix of wandering through RVs due to the heat. And because we found a great neighborhood online bout a year ago, we went through some model homes just north of Tampa. We think going through houses is just about one of the best ways to pass time. We wound up visiting 4 builders and seeing about 10 model homes. There were 2-3 that really stood out as a great fit for us, though not necessarily in this development…and if we were to leave Northern Illinois.

Florida rain is a funny thing. In Illinois, rain falls all day and is cold and dreary. In Florida, rain falls over the course of 10 minutes and up to a few hours. Oftentimes, the sun continues to shine while it rains. And then after the rain, the day goes back to being sunny and wonderful again. Getting caught in the rain can leave you soaked here, but hardly uncomfortable. We swam in the pool during a few rains and couldn’t have been warmer!

As you can tell, we had another enjoyable stay at Lazydays. It might be our last stay for a long, long time – if we sell the RV. We’re headed south to Venice, Florida for a few days and then somewhere else between Naples and Tampa.

We’d planned to come westward along the Gulf of Mexico, but prices south of Tampa are well less than half of those along the Gulf. And we still get beaches and pools. So we’re going to dink around down here for a while longer.
