Thanksgiving in Florida

We hosted our 2nd Thanksgiving ever, 2nd vegan Thanksgiving, and 1st in Florida this past week/weekend. Karissa’s sister and her boys came down to enjoy the sunshine & warmth and to see our new house. Karissa’s parents obviously came for the weekend. And we had a full house.

We had night after night of card games – teaching the teenagers how to shuffle a deck of cards, how to hold cards, card etiquette, and a few card games. It’s amazing that kids these days don’t have the basic card knowledge we had growing up. Phones and technology, huh?

For the Thanksgiving feast, we made about a dozen dishes. Only 2 were non-vegan – one was regular Kraft mac & cheese and the other was a 4 pound turkey for the 3 carnivores in attendance. We made 15 pounds of mashed potatoes! As we said last year, Thanksgiving flavors can be captures without meat. It was wonderful!

Over the weekend, we showed off our town. Had fun at Food Truck Friday, saw the new home models, and sat by the pool in the sun. It was a really wonderful 5 days and we look forward to more visitors and more fun times in Florida!

We’re all rightfully exhausted. But it’s time to start prepping for Christmas!

Many thanks for Joi & the boys for coming to spend their Thanksgiving with us in Florida.
