Last Few Days of Florida Trip 2019/2020

After a fun New Year’s Celebration in Naples, we spent the last morning of Aunt Foi’s trip looking at houses near Naples. It was a place we visited over the summer and wanted to have a second look. Boy, that second look really left us with a very positive impression!

We also stopped at Babcock Ranch on the way back up north to Tampa and Lazydays. Babcock Ranch is America’s first 100% solar-powered town. It’s basically a brand new town that didn’t exist 10 years ago. There are currently 500 homes with residents out a planned 20,000 homes over the next decade or so. The great prices (and solar power) got us to visit, but it’s probably not the place for us.

Back at Lazydays, we didn’t leave for our final two nights. The temperatures were over 80 and we wanted to maximize our pool time after almost two weeks of running around, house shopping, and visiting family. Emerson became a swimmer – he can swim a few feet from the stairs to one of us. He also began jumping into the pool and then swimming a few feet to us. It’s pretty great progress. Adelaide is able to swim all of the way across the pool by herself now.

Saturday came and meant time to clean the RV and get it ready for storage a few miles down the road. We put it at the same place last year and returned to it in June without issue. That’s the plan again. This year, there was a rainstorm that hit as we pulled out of Lazydays and was set to last for 2 hours. It made for a wet drop-off and transfer of stuff at the storage place. But we survived!

The girls didn’t have to fly until 10pm, so we had a full afternoon of fun to be had. We ate at Sweet Tomatoes in Brandon for the 3rd time of the trip before a fun-filled afternoon at the Tampa Glazier Children’s Museum.

We checked-in to the hotel around 5pm. After a few hours of relaxation, we loaded up to take the girls to the airport. It was an uneventful dropoff. Emerson and I got back to the hotel and fell asleep right away. We’ve got a long drive back north in our future.

(We got a middle-of-the-night text that the girls made it home safely.)
