June in 3 Parts

June had 4 distinct phases: school, home relaxation, travel to Illinois/Wisconsin, and the start of summer there. We already covered the end of school – so we’ll resume at “home relaxation”.

“Home Relaxation”: We got the summer started by spending some time enjoying a home week. We had a sleepover, picnics outside, plenty of pool time and rainbows. It was a great way to build fond memories and feelings towards our community and home.

“Travel to Illinois/Wisconsin”: Because of our two dogs, flying home for 4-6 weeks isn’t very feasible. So we have to drive. Flights were expensive this year, so we made it a family road trip. The kids did GREAT in the car for 2 days. It’s always amazing just how far south into Florida we live – it takes 4-6 hours just to get to Georgia! We spent the night just north of Atlanta in Calhoun and generally had an uneventful trip. Arriving at Grandma Cathy & Grandpa Loren’s house was a great relief and reason to celebrate!

“Start of Summer in Illinois/Wisconsin”: We spent the first few days at Grandma Cathy & Grandpa Loren’s house where it’s Christmas every day. Karissa and I tried to get a few of the 2-page list of projects done with an inaugural trip to St. Menard’s. We drove to Wisconsin for Karissa to help her parents finalize the sale of their property while I took a work trip to Colorado. I lucked into seeing Uncle Ken & Aunt Kay out there and had a grand time meeting all of my coworkers after 18 months of remote-only work. Upon my return, we celebrated Grandpa Loren’s birthday, went bowling, and continued our projects. Karissa left to finish the last of helping her parents and we’re excited to celebrate July!
