With Karissa home, we had a relatively normal week. Emerson took a field trip one morning with his Spanish class to the strawberry patch to learn some farm and plant words. Adelaide’s class had the parents come to see their “Vowel Town” projects. And we prepared for Emerson’s birthday party…two months late!
We also spent an evening at the community pool for the first time and enjoyed the great sunset.
Emerson couldn’t decide where to have his birthday party. He considered Chuck E. Cheese, an arcade, home, and a trampoline park. We tried to steer him to Chuck E. Cheese, but to no avail. Having it at home meant he could invite more people without having to pay $30-35/person at most places. So he could have a larger party with less close friends for the same price. Or so we thought! By the time we rented a bounce house, bought goodie bags, and food, we spent more than had we just hosted the party somewhere else! Lesson learned! Home parties can be more expensive than going somewhere!
Anyway, Emerson and his friends had a blast. They used the bouncy house and the pool for 6 hours and there wasn’t too much extra food. Plus, he hasn’t had a party of his own ever – so he deserved a splurge this year.
Karissa is leaving us again to help her mom in Wisconsin get the house on the market. Last trip was decluttering and staging – this trip is final touches and live listing. So the kids and I will have another stretch of junk food and movies.
Mmmmmm That Cake Looks YUMMY!!!!
