“Will Santa Find Us?”

We’re ready for Christmas 2021! This will be Emerson’s 4th (out of 5) Christmas in Florida and Adelaide’s 4th out of 7. In a pre-Covid world, all of Emerson’s Christmas’s to-date would have been in Florida…

That “Christmas-y” feeling has been hard to come by. There’s something about the weather turning cold and a bit of snow that brings out the feeling of Christmas. Even the years we spent Christmas in Florida, we still had the lead-up to it in the tundra. We wonder if we’ll become more attuned to the changing of seasons and holidays in Florida’s endless sunshine and warmth.

That’s not to say we haven’t had a bunch of fun, festive activities! After the Winter Wonderland weekend, we had a town-wide scavenger hunt. All done on an app on the phone! It was a fun evening. A lot of laughing. A lot of silliness. Definitely fun.

The final week of school meant a bunch of fun too. For Emerson, that meant a gingerbread building activity with parents. And then a sing-a-long – which explained why he’d been singing a strange song we didn’t know he knew. Adelaide got to dress up in different ways. Dress like a present. New Year’s Eve. Dress like a Who. More I’m forgetting. She loved it.

The final day’s dress-up was New Year’s Eve. Adelaide loved it so much that she made all of us dress up in our best clothes that night and go out to eat. Why we let her and what this new power she has will lead to scares us a lot!

We wound up going to Olive Garden. It was a good night. The kids were well enough behaved. Olive Garden is cheap enough that them not eating didn’t bother us. ANd it was good to get out of the house to ring in the Holiday break.

We’re excited to have Santa visit our new house. We’re glad to have a bunch of time off together. And have no clue what we’ll do!

I also finally played golf at Babcock National – the local golf course that will be closed to the public in a year or two. It was great! I shot a 90 after not golfing in about 2 years. Karissa took the kids to the farmer’s market and they got lots of veggies – and salsa & guacamole the kids LOVED! We also had a friends Christmas, our neighborhood Jingle Bell Jog, cookie-making fun, and Karissa got boosted.

Merry Christmas!
