Pioneer Village RV Resort (N. Fort Myers, Florida)

It’s been a while since we’ve visited a new RV resort, and they can be pretty hit-or-miss when there’s availability in-season. Pulling in, it was about what we expected. We had a snafu with our site assignment and any chance of fitting, but a nice campground worker quickly ushered us to a vacant site, and we didn’t let that spoil our opinion of the place. At first, we thought it was a passable place to stay. Everything seemed to work, nothing was too crowded. There was pretty good walkability within the park.

After a few days, we started to really love the place. Everybody was friendly. It’s not a high-end park, so there is no protectionism over anything. It’s a very blue collar place where the long-term folks want everyone to have a good time. Karissa says it’s a top 5 place we’ve stayed. I think it’s a bit lower, but it’s definitely unique. It has the feel of a smaller, more intimate park – say Ellenton Gardens – but the largeness and ability to walk within the grounds of something approaching Sun-N-Fun. We’ll definitely be back!

To recap our time at Pioneer Village, we explored some playgrounds nearby. We ate ice cream – sherbet for us adults living the plant-based life – and looked at some home models – a favorite pastime. We got back into running. We watched the inauguration of our new President and VP. It was a great stay!

It’s funny, Adelaide couldn’t understand the hoopla over a woman becoming VP. To her, men and women can do anything they want. She appreciates having a woman leader, but struggled with why it’s new.

Because we were parked on a grassy site, our RV is rocking more than normal when we walk around. Worse than ever. So I rigged up a short-term solution using ratchet straps and the landing gear legs. It helps a ton, but isn’t realistic to do forever. We’ve ordered a solution and will report on its efficacy after our next stay.

We did a mini-quarantine before getting tested for covid and heading down to Naples to see Mimi and Papa after over a year without seeing them. So check out the next post for a recap of our time in Naples.
