Emerson and I really struggled through our days while waiting for the girls to join us in Florida. Rather than go into detail on our suffering, here’s a selection of photos of how we passed our time.
Meanwhile, in Illinois, the girls spent their last night by inviting a bunch of friends over to make crafts and play.
They got to bed late and woke up early the next morning to get off to the airport. Brittany was awesome and took them there; giving up her first morning of winter break to be a chauffeur. (I woke up at 5am panicking that they overslept.) They made it to the airport with plenty of time. They had McDonald’s breakfast and an uneventful flight.
Emerson and I were beyond excited to see our girls. We left a little too early and had to wait in the cell phone lot. Emerson saw a yellow (Spirit) plane land and loudly told me about it. A few seconds later we got a text from Mommy. We think we saw their plane land! So we started over to pick them up and saw them! We were so happy!
We got back to Lazydays and immediately set off to the playground. Then, the pool. The resort had a bunch of craft activities for the pre-Christmas weekend, so of course our crafty girls had to participate. We made terra cotta pot gingerbread houses, Mason jar snowglobes, and painted ornaments. To round off our first night, we ate at the resort restaurant.
The kids hadn’t yet gotten a Santa photo. With a Bass Pro Shops only 20 minutes away from Lazydays, we planned to visit him while in Florida. We checked in, explored the store, had a quick lunch, and then got our turn with the big guy. Emerson didn’t cry! But was very upset that he didn’t get a present right away. And Adelaide was great, as usual.
After Santa, it was raining so we decided to visited a model home we hadn’t yet been in that was a few minutes away. It was great! The kids wanted to move right in (and thought that everything in the house would become theirs). Emerson was happy to now have two backpacks. And Adelaide loved her “new” chair.
We’re leaving Lazydays to spend our 3rd Christmas in a row at Sun-N-Fun in Sarasota. More fun to come!
