This week (and weekend) is the annual Pumpkin Fest Weekend! After getting our pumpkins last week, the kids got them decorated and dropped off at the display.
We had a great idea of making a unicorn out of multiple pumpkins – since Adelaide is obsessed with unicorns. But she has a mind of her own and refused. So she painted a picture of a unicorn on a big pumpkin. Emerson just slopped paint over his before we added small pumpkin wheels to make a covered wagon pumpkin. The theme was “Wild West Pumpkin Fest”.
While at the library this week, I found a book that had dogs that looked identical to ours. When we adopted them from the local shelter, we were told they were Papillons. They clearly weren’t, but the big ears seemed to mean there could be a relationship there. After thinking they were some sort of Papillon/Border Collie mix, the answer is clear: they are Karelian Bear Dogs!
Adelaide continues to play basketball. She makes dressing up (in uniform) such an ordeal. This is what she wore this week…
Cousin Ella and her mom joined us again for rides at Pumpkin Fest. We just beat the rain on a cold day – but the girls and Emerson had a blast!
The next day, Karissa and I ran the Pumpkin Run 10K. We’ve never done it. We skipped it in the past because it doesn’t give a medal and Karissa had a rule about running only races with medals. But we decided to make an exception for local races. It was fun. We both had pretty good times.
To wrap up the weekend, my parents asked me to take some photos of them for their Christmas card (and because they haven’t had photos taken in a while). I think I took a few hundred shots – here are my favorites. Karissa and the kids joined too.
Oh, one more thing! After the photo session, we ran over to Spirit Halloween to get Emerson a costume. He wore it out of the store! And Karissa and Adelaide bought a bunch of art supplies and decorations…
