Spring Sunshine

We had a week of pretty good weather. It was mostly sunny with temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s. Never mind that it snowed yesterday, in late April. We tried to enjoy the weather by taking bike rides and walks. Our basement drywall project is complete! And road construction continued.

The first event of the week was Adelaide’s spring sing at her new school. We didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be pretty fun. Emerson had a blast. And Adelaide seemed to enjoy it too.

Of course, I was the only parent there with a camera other than a phone and the microphone on top really made me stand out like a sore thumb. At least my assistant was the cutest one at the event.

We took advantage of the comfortable weather by riding our bikes, watching the construction work, and going to the playground. Emerson is LOVING the big trucks zooming around, moving rocks and pipes, and the loud noises. We’re not sure why exactly he’s so drawn to it, but it’s definitely cute.

Karissa took Thursday off of work to attend “Goodies with Gals” week at Adelaide’s morning preschool. (Grandma Cathy went on Tuesday.) I went to “Donuts with Dudes” week a couple weeks ago. It’s a way for parents & grandparents to see what a preschool day looks like and to let the kids show off their routine. Karissa took Adelaide out to lunch to continue their little day long day together.

Our basement drywall project is now complete! We love the results. It’s amazing how quickly putting up drywall can change a project. It makes it seem nearly done, despite a lot of work still being left. The basement is definitely transformed and looks awesome.

So after a week of pretty good weather in the midwest, what’s bound to happen? A change of the weather for the worse, of course! We got snow two weeks ago and thought it was the last of it. But another 3-5″ at the end of April seemed like good measure to (hopefully) wrap up a long, cold, dark winter. It should all melt quickly, but still… The flower photos were taken within 24 hours of each other – pre-snow and post-snow.

Temperatures for the next week are looking like mid-50s, so we’ll be back inside dreaming about pool weather. Luckily, we’ve got another RV trip coming up in about a month! We can’t wait to get on the road again and be warm.

On a final note, we continue to be amazed with the new camera – our Canon M50. It’s capable of so much more than our old Nikon D5300. The touchscreen for selecting focus and reliable autofocus in video mode combined with “fast” lenses can create some stunning results in video and photo. It’s making photography really fun and new!
