Basement Drywall Begins

With Adelaide going to two schools, life during the week has been hectic. We now have somewhere to be every single day and twice a week, she has two schools on the same day! Karissa has been enjoying Adelaide’s new school because she gets to pick her up afterwards and feel more like a part of her school life versus not dropping her off or picking her up at her original school.

They ripped up our streets a few weeks ago. The next step of the process is replacing all of the sewer system. It’s began this week right after the huge supplies were laid out all over the neighborhood.

The biggest news for us this week was the delivery of drywall supplies. Our basement has been ripped down to the studs since about the first month we moved in back in 2012. So it’s safe to say that this is a major milestone in our renovation. The drywaller also began work and is continuing to work today. I’m sure next week’s update will have some great transformation pictures.

With Easter just around the corner, Adelaide went on her first Easter egg hunt of the year. Grandma heard about a local church having a hunt and took her over for the fun. They both seemed to have a ball. Afterwards, we got out our Easter decorations and put them up for the year.

Take note of the green-ness and type of clothing we’re wearing in those pictures. It was mostly sunny and in the high 40’s – so pretty comfortable. Fast forward 18 hours and here’s the same scene:

That’s right! Snow! In mid-April! These pictures were taken between 8-10am and it’s supposed to keep snowing all day. As I type at 2pm, there’s probably a good 4 inches on the ground.

Finally, with the “Impossible Whopper” announced at Burger King, we decided to try a meat imitator. This one was beef crumbles made from pea protein and beet juice. Gluten-free and soy-free. It cost about 2x real beef. The taste was fine, though nothing at all like beef. But the texture was chewy and tough. I’d buy it again if it was on sale, but beef is just so much better and cheaper. I’ve heard that the “Impossible Meats” brand is nearly as good as beef, so we’ll give it a shot when we come across it.
