We have a tree in our back yard called a Ginko. It’s a pretty cool tree with super unique leaves. Our neighbor has one as well. Ours is a female and the neighbor has a male tree. The type of tree is older than dinosaurs. Anyhow, it loses all of its leaves in one day. The neighbor’s tree’s leaves dropped the day before ours. It’s pretty constant. Like snow, but with leaves. The two trees match now, but I forgot to take a picture.
We didn’t do too much this week. A trip to Kohls was one of the highlights. We bought Adelaide some slippers because it’s cold here and she refuses to wear socks in the house. So far, she’s been wearing her slippers non-stop. We caught her and Emerson cuddling together to watch something on the phone. It was really cute.
Since starting Whole30, someone posted on Facebook about how expensive healthy eating is. Since then, I’ve sort of turned grocery shopping into a game to see how little I can spend to feed us. I’ve always been a value shopper, but I’ve turned it into a true challenge now. We spent $77 one week to feed all of us for the whole week. And we’ll all tell you we were full. This week’s deal was a 10lb pork tenderloin for under $15.
I’ve been making soup every Sunday for lunches for the week. This week’s soup is beef vegetable. I really focused on execution of the process. I cut everything into the intended size with a pretty good amount of precision. I think about my spice blend and choose ingredients to complement get my intended flavor profile. Notice how the vegetables start out crisp with a somewhat watery broth and yield their aura to make the broth thicker. First tastes of the soup are really good!
