Midwest Weather & a Wedding

Midwest weather becomes highly unpredictable with each change in season. With the transition from summer to fall, this means we get days in the 80s followed by days in the 40s…and then back again. We took advantage of one of those unseasonably warm days to eat a possible final meal of the year on our deck. The kids ate spaghetti while Karissa and I had a robust salad.

I’ve said it before, but Karissa and I are doing Whole30. That means no added sugar, grains, legumes, dairy, or alcohol. We love this diet as a cleanse and weight-loss tool. There is no calorie counting or eating at certain times or anything more complicated than eating real food when you’re hungry and as much of it as you want. As a major fan of feasting often, this is a great fit for me. Karissa started 2018 at about 175 pounds. A few rounds of Whole30 spread throughout the year have allowed her to hit her current weight of just under 145 pounds. I’ve been between 195-205 for the past few years. I think this is about my ideal weight. When I get on the heavier end, I focus on Whole30 to get back to the lower end.

I bought this flannel shirt in Tucson, Arizona, for $1.00. And the Ford hat for $1.88 at a local store. Nothing like looking good on the cheap!

We saw this entire rig, truck & 5th wheel, for sale while on a drive this week. The sticker said $25,000, but it had to have been for just the truck. Either way, what and easy way to get on the road and enjoy RV life. Life in one place has a lot of benefits, but there’s nothing like the adventure of road life. No matter where you go, your house is always with you – which adds the right amount of familiarity to the unknown. We are seriously missing the road.

I spent my first full day working on the basement renovation in quite some time. It’s making slow progress, but is still at the studs. Hopefully, we can get drywall up before too long.

We attended a high school friend’s wedding. We play softball with them on a coed team and wish them nothing but the best. The wedding was wonderful and the bride was gorgeous.

Karissa and I didn’t manage to get a picture together, but she did manage to capture how beautiful she looked with her first cheat food in 25 days.
