First Week of New Normal & Birthday Weekend

We survived our first week of the new normal – with Karissa back to work and me staying home with the kids. It was a major change for all of us, but we’ll figure it out.

The kids and I brought a picnic lunch to Karissa. We met her at one of the local playgrounds. Our current transportation situation effectively makes us a one car family, so I pulled the kids in the bike trailer. It was about 8.5 miles round-trip, so a great workout. We think we’ll meet up for lunch at least once a week.

Adelaide has a knack for killing and catching flies. She grabbed one and decided to keep it as a pet. We’ve replaced it a few times as it has died. It’s pretty funny.

Emerson is becoming less and less trustworthy. While we were sitting in the kitchen, we stopped hearing him making noises. We walked over (about 20 feet) to find him chewing on a marker. He was mad we took it away!

The kids and I take at least one walk and/or bike ride each day. Sometimes we bring a dog. Sometimes it’s doll strollers. It’s always an easy and fun way to pass some time and burn energy. Adelaide got a new bike seat so she can carry more dolls on her bike, not just in the basket on the handlebars.

We kicked off the weekend with the end of season volleyball tournament at the local bowling alley where we play sand volleyball all summer. We played pretty good and wound up in 3rd place. We hung around most of the day and enjoyed great weather, friends, and cold beer.

For my birthday, the two girls went to a bridal shower while grandma watched Emerson so I could golf for the first time all year with my dad and brother. I shot better than bogey golf, which was surprising and very much welcomed. We had dinner at the local Chinese buffet and ice cream cake at home. Not a bad way to turn 32.

This week I started an Etsy shop to sell some art. Visiting all of the galleries in Santa Fe was eye-opening. The prices are obscene. I’m not really an art aficionado, but to me there were really two classes of art. Super-talented and/or super-detailed work that clearly takes time and skill to make. And then stuff I could make that was selling for ridiculous prices. I decided then and there to try my hand at this type of art. I made a few pieces to populate my Etsy shop, made up a pen-name, and am hoping for my first sale. Look up JeffersonRidge on Etsy and buy a piece or two!
