Las Vegas, Nevada: Meeting Up with Old Friends

We’ve been hoping to meet up and camp with some old friends, Anna and Dave, from high school since we started our adventure. They sold everything to live full-time in an RV while being a travelling lineman and stay-at-home mom for two kids the same age as ours. They’ve been on the West Coast for our entire trip and are now starting to move east. It had looked like we’d meet somewhere in New Mexico, but merging two sets of travel plans is tougher than herding cats. Anyhow, late last week we decided to meet up in Las Vegas for a few days.

The resort they chose was beautiful! Pulling up, it felt like a 5 start luxury hotel with glass doors, a fountain, and perfect landscaping. We managed to snag the spot right next to them, so going back and forth was easy.

The older kids, Adelaide and their son, hit it off instantly and played very well together. They’ve met a handful of times over their lifetimes, but only for a few hours at a time. I know Adelaide was craving kid interaction with somebody her age and they both had a blast!

Emerson and their daughter, being 1-year old, didn’t interact too much. Emerson is working on standing – it’s pretty much all he seems to care about other than eating. He stood up for the first time from the ground without using anything to hold.

We hung around the campsites, taking turns making each other meals, and spent a fun night on Fremont Street. The kids loved the lights and music. Life is pretty much a  dance party for Adelaide, and having a dance partner seemed to make her happy. They sneaked a kiss under the lights, which was beyond cute.

Seeing our friends was great, but the visit was far too brief. Luckily, they’re planning to be near our big house this summer, so the kids can resume their fun.
