Home A Few Days Early

We’d been planning to be home by June 1st. There wasn’t any major reason for the date, just an easy to remember spot on the calendar. We talked about making a stop for a few nights at a fancy RV resort between Northeast Iowa and home, but couldn’t mentally justify being just a few hours away. So we got home a few days earlier than planned.

Adelaide has been begging to go home since we came home last time. She didn’t cry about it, but when asked always said she wanted to go to her “big home”. She was giddy as we turned into our neighborhood and remembered exactly where to turn to get there. The dogs sensed being near home too.

When we first brought our fifth wheel home after buying it, it took about an hour to park it in the driveway. This time, it took just two tries and about 5 minutes. It’s amazing the skills you acquire just by practicing.

We’ll keep the RV parked in the driveway as we unpack it. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long. And then we’ll find a local storage place to park it.

It didn’t take long to get back into the swing of things. The lawn needed to be mowed. The house has toys everywhere, as if we’d never been gone. And being able to spread out feels great. We learned a lot out on the road and living small. I’ll talk about takeaways from the adventure some other time, but we’re going to do our best to meld RV life and living in a big home.
