After a wonderful Christmas, we got some visitors. Karissa’s sister and her boys have been in Naples with Karissa’s parents for their winter break. They decided to visit us and see what life at Sun-N-Fun is all about.
We all had a pool day. They opened up the “mega slide”. And had lunch poolside.
As it came time for them to leave, we opened a few presents. And they decided to take our kids back with them for a few days.
We took advantage of our kid-free time by having a date downtown Lakewood Ranch at a Mexican restaurant. It was a beautiful night and setting, but the food was horrendous. Like a Top 5 Worst Mexican foods in the country bad. Evansville, Indiana, and Murfreesboro, Arkansas, come to mind as in the running for worst – and this place in Lakewood Ranch might be the worst of the bunch. The chips were bland. The salsa was like tomato sauce, but with less flavor. And the taco meat was sloppy joe. Service was also slow. A Google review said the best part of their experience there was the music across the street – and we agree.
We spent the next day by going on a run AT THE SAME TIME and exploring the Sarasota/Bradenton area some more.
The kids had a ball down in Naples with their cousins and grandparents and aunt. We met halfway and were greeted by two crying kids who didn’t want to see us or come back with us. Even looking at houses in Venice didn’t get them excited. Luckily, a playground followed by McDonald’s never fails to put a smile on their faces.
We spent our last day at Sun-N-Fun by not leaving the resort. We played a few rounds of mini golf, shuffleboard, playground, and pool time. For dinner, we walked across the street where a live band was playing in an open-air restaurant. The kids danced to the music, ate, and then took advantage of the empty stage to put on their own show. It was a perfect day to end our stay at one of our favorite places.
We’re heading back up to Lazydays for a night, parking the RV there, and then coming down to Naples for New Year’s Eve with family. We’ll go back to Lazydays to finish up our time in Florida on this trip. It’s been great so far.
