We’ve hosted a 5K at our house for the last 3 years. The first year, we had 5 runners. Last year, we jumped to 7. And this year was a record 10!
But before we get to the 5K, our week started with Karissa playing in a teachers vs. fire fighters basketball game fundraiser for Toys for Tots. Emerson and Adaelaide loved seeing mom play basketball…though Adelaide liked the halftime dancers more than the game.
To round out our week, Adelaide and Mommy made a Christmas ornament to commemorate our epic 6-month RV roadtrip. They added glitter to every state we visited on that trip.
Other than being bitter cold, it was a normal week. Grandma Cathy and Grandpa Loren watched the kids for volleyball. Adelaide made all sorts of crafts at school. And Emerson fell asleep in a cute way.
Oh, and I went out to our storage place and brought the RV home to get packed up for our upcoming trip to Florida for Christmas and New Years!
And then it was Saturday and time for our 3rd Annual 5K! Like I said, we had 10 runners and 3 kid runners for the 1st Annual Kids Run. It was really fun. We handicapped the race so that everyone had a chance to win. We each submitted our best 5K time in the last 12 months (to the nearest minute). Then each started such that we should finish at the same time. It worked about as well as we’d hoped in terms of having a competitive finish.
So that was our week. Emerson and I leave for Florida soon. We’re watching the weather and debating when to leave. Karissa and Adelaide are flying down after their final week of school. Fun times!
