After mourning the end of summer 2019, Karissa had a short week of school to kick off her 7th year teaching (and 10th in the district).
That weekend, we had the end of season sand volleyball tournament at the bowling alley. They run leagues every night of the week and this tournament is a way to combine the best of those teams to find an overall champion. We finished 3rd last season. But this year….we WON! In addition to the pride of winning, we got $175 in cash – which we blew at the bar to celebrate.
After that fun weekend, it was Adelaide’s turn to start school for the year. She was excited to have the same teacher as last year (at least for this school). Emerson was sad he couldn’t join her. He cried the whole way home on the first day!
The weather has been pretty reasonable, if not a bit cold. We’ve done our best to be outside as much as possible to take advantage of it. We’ll be cooped up for the winter in no time…
After the first full week of school for both Karissa and Adelaide, we celebrated by attending an annual festival in town on Friday night. They have carnival food and carnival rides spread around the downtown area. Adelaide was tall enough to ride any ride we would have let her and Emerson could finally ride the little kid rides.
Adelaide is a thrill-seeker. She laughs the entire time on rides. She throws her hands in the air. She loves every ride, no matter how scary or fast. Emerson, our scaredy-cat, hated all but one ride. He wanted the roller coaster to stop. He didn’t like the space ships that went up in the air. But driving the cars? He could have done that one all night!
The next day, we sent the kids up to Wisconsin to get work done around the house.
Karissa has been wanting to clean out our outdoor storage/equipment room for years. We emptied it out and pressure washed it. There was a fertilizer spill and lingering odor when we moved in. The room is made of cinderblock and has just a door, so ventilation is near impossible. The good cleaning seems to have fixed the smell. We’re going to need a dumpster to get rid of all of the junk we’d been hoarding in there!
So after a long week, a fun Friday night, and a weekend of hard work, we were exhausted! Hopefully, we can get back into the swing of things before too long.
Love seeing your ambition and following the many hands-on projects you pursue as a couple. Your children are darling. Fun to see ‘little’ ones developing. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! We’ve definitely tackled quite a few projects together. We can’t wait for all of the projects to be completed…hopefully soon!
