After a brief stay at home, it was time for our annual Country Thunder week. We both stopped listening to country music at least a decade ago, so get most excited about the older acts than the new pretty boys that seem to have overtaken “country” with their songs about tailgates and severe lack of cowboy hats and songwriting ability. But that’s a story for another day…
As usual, the weather for Country Thunder included lots of rain in the forecast. With dirt roads into the campsites, that means getting in and out is scary. We managed to make it to every night of the shows, despite the mud. But there were a few scary moments, to be sure.
We had a great time again this year. The kids, Adelaide especially, got to play with her cousins at the campsites and inside the venue for the shows. Our highlights this year were Tim McGraw and a giant brick of fries from concessions. Other than that, we had more fun at the campsite just hanging out than actually listening to whatever genre of music was playing inside the venue.
The end of Country Thunder is best summed up in these two photos:
During the week we also had the joy of playing with our new floating island mat. It’s a giant foam mat (like a thick yoga mat) that allows 5-10 people to relax or play in the water. It doesn’t have air, and thus can’t pop or get holes and become unusable after a season (or hard day) of play.
Karissa got Barbie’s every Christmas. The ones with the year on them. She didn’t open them for her entire life. Since Adelaide LOVES Barbie dolls…and these Holiday Barbie’s aren’t worth much…Karissa and her mom let Adelaide open a few of them up. She has been loving playing with them.
We’re excited to head home and tackle more of our home projects!
