A bike gang has formed in our neighborhood. It started small and escalated pretty quickly. I think it has more growth ahead.
It started with Adelaide riding her bike one cold night. She ran into a neighbor boy and they planned a ride the following night. In the meantime, Emerson started “riding” his Strider bike and joined the ride. They picked up a neighbor girl before circling back and adding the boy’s two sisters to the mix. There’s a family with 3 boys under 5 that will undoubtedly get in on the bike gang action.
We were the youngest in our neighborhood when we moved here in 2012. The neighbor boy mentioned above was the first born on the block. Then Adelaide. We became neighbor friends with them pretty quickly. About two years ago, another family with a girl a few months older than Adelaide moved in about 3 houses away. Last fall, the family with 3 boys under 5 moved in. And we learned today that another little baby girl was born to parents a few houses away. We think our neighborhood is finally turning! Many of the homes were last sold in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Those families’ kids are roughly our age and long gone. The parents seem to be hitting retirement age and moving away. And given a golf course as our back yard and large houses for reasonable prices, it makes perfect sense for families to want to live in this loop.
Speaking of neighbor friends and kids, we attended a birthday party for a neighbor girl. She’s a cutie and we had a ball at the party. Emerson (and Adelaide) loved playing with their drum set. I think Emerson might have discovered a real passion. He spent at least and hour banging away.
We celebrated St. Patrick’s day a few days late with my parents. My mom always makes corned beef and cabbage. We feasted and Adelaide got to open some more birthday presents. They are from her new favorite show, Mia & Me.
We’re excited for Spring Break this coming week. A full week of Karissa being home! Yay! And hopefully, the weather stays “spring-like” or warmer!
