Whirring Around

Sometimes it feels like we’re whirring around. And can’t seem to reach the brakes or hit the eject button. Something like going through the motions while everything is in fast forward. Another way to say, we’ve been too busy. Though almost always for good reasons. The darkness and cold that is a midwest winter doesn’t help.

Our week started with Karissa still at the weekend bachelorette party where she had a great time. The ladies had a pretty good weekend doing wine tastings and brewery tours, but the highlight of their trip didn’t seem to be what they did. Rather it was the mouse that was in their rental house that resulted in a bunch of Facebook Live videos and was all Karissa could talk about when she got home. The food picture above is a poached, deep-fried egg. Karissa said it spoke to her on the menu and was awesome.

Aunt Foi and the cousins came and took Adelaide and Emerson for a night. They had a ball at an indoor playground and at Aunt Foi’s house. I enjoyed some much needed sci-fi tv show time in between snow blowing. If you haven’t seen “The Expanse”, check it out. Like I said last week, we’ve been doing a poor job of taking pictures lately…but a good job of taking video. We need to be better about doing both as both have merit.

Once we were all back under one roof, the week was pretty uneventful. The snow stopped once we were all home. There wasn’t extreme cold. Just a normal winter week.

We have a big picture wall above our couch. It has nearly 50 pictures on it. Here’s a picture of it, for reference:

We put it up early in 2015, before Adelaide was born. We’d planned on updating a few of the pictures every year, if not more often. Well, it’s early 2019 now and we haven’t touched any of the pictures. We have a girl who will be 4 soon and a boy who will be 2…and they’re not on our most prominent picture wall! To correct this travesty, we began the process of picking out pictures that are somewhat “timeless” and can be up there with the other “timeless” pictures. Picking out favorite pictures of your kids over 4 years is HARD!

For reference, we took 1,348 pictures in 2014, the year before Adelaide was born. In 2015, we took 6,352. Last year, 2018, we took 15,937!

We got 6 printed at Walgreens this week and will work toward another 14-ish in the coming weeks.

One of the cool things about looking through pictures is coming across great ones that you didn’t know existed. Take this one. It’s an awesome picture of us. We were at a wedding in October of 2018. We just didn’t know we took this great of a picture. Thank goodness we never delete photos!

So really, after we were all back home, the snow stopped and we had a pretty normal winter week. We’ll let you know how the photo wall turns out if we can find another 14 pictures to get printed.

And check out the YouTube channel. We made 2 videos this week and don’t know the direction to take the content. Do you like the vlog-ish style we’ve been trying? Or is something a bit different more interesting? More talking? Less talking? More Karissa? Let us know in the comments!
