This week, we had a sheet of ice, got sick, celebrated Valentine’s Day, and Karissa left us for a Bachelorette Party weekend.
It’s funny how we’ve stopped taking many pictures with trying to take video. Something about trying to do one means the other gets put on the backburner. Thankfully, our video software can turn a frame of the video into a high resolution photo. But still, the extra work means less photos.
It could also be that since we’re just living “normal life” at home, we don’t feel compelled to take photos. Why take a photo of the same, mundane, things every day? Another photo of making eggs? Of the library? Of riding in the car? We’re definitely missing the adventurous life we were living on the road last year. Every day was something new and exciting. Landscapes far different from here. At this point, we’d settle for being able to be outside. We’ve got cabin fever and the winter blues. Winter is bogus. And this one has been a doozie.
In any event, this week started off with a sensory activity that Karissa wanted to do. Shaving cream! She put some on the counter and let the kids go to town. Adelaide loved it. Emerson HATED it. And Karissa got in on the fun too.
That afternoon, Karissa and Adelaide went to some sort of dance event at the high school. They enjoyed the first bit, but left after an act. I guess it wasn’t as much of a production as they’d hoped. More of a recital. Oh, well.
After my Sunday basketball game, I felt sick. I’d been feeling incrementally worse as the day went on, but it hit me after the game. I woke up with a sore throat and upset stomach. Thankfully, Monday my parents were watching the kids. I dropped them off and had a day of recovery. The sore throat lingered all week, but I felt immensely better.
Next up was Valentine’s Day. As is our standard operating procedure, we ran out to the store the night before to get supplies. Adelaide picked out unicorn cards with a sticky/squishy toy to give to her schoolmates. She traced her name and the names of the other kids. She loves that kind of stuff.
Thursday night, the kids had fun singing and dancing while my parents watched them. Karissa and I play volleyball on Thursdays. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than volleyball? V-Ball on V-Day? It fits.
Karissa is on day 25 of her 30 day self-challenge of making Norwex videos. We’ve been trying to make it fun with humor in the videos, funny edits, and pushing envelopes. The highlight of the week’s videos was Karissa using the GoPro on her head to record herself using the Norwex Body Scrub Mitt…..
….in the SHOWER! It was a fun little video. Obviously, being 1st person perspective it didn’t show anything but her arms and legs. But the potential to see something made the video feel risque.
Our week is ending with Karissa going to a bachelorette party. A few weeks ago, she and Adelaide went to the Bridal Shower. The party crew is heading to the obvious winter getaway city of Madison, Wisconsin. Going further NORTH in winter makes perfect sense, right? They’ll be celebrating for 4 days and 3 nights.
We continue to learn new camera and editing tricks for video. Doing Karissa’s 30 days of Norwex videos has made us get creative and try some new things. This week’s new skill was using manual focus. It’s pretty fun and we may have gone overboard, but a great skill nonetheless.
