Merry Christmas 2018 from Sun-N-Fun RV Resort in Sarasota, Florida! Again, last year here at the same place was magical, so we decided to do it again. It’s a huge RV resort with some of the happiest folks. This time of year, there’s a great mix of families and older folks. The pool is warm. And they have two hot tubs.
We started our Christmas Eve by decorating gingerbread houses. Emerson and I did a train while Adelaide and Mommy made a traditional house. Then,we went out for tacos. Karissa has been on Whole30 and chose tacos to celebrate her completion. She did Whole30 for over 100 days this year! Finally, we played at the aforementioned pool.
One of the neatest things they do here is have a golf cart parade on Christmas Eve. Both visitors and residents decorate golf carts with lights, inflatables, and all sorts of stuff then drive around like a parade. They even throw candy! Last year on Christmas Eve, there was cookie decorating for kids and a Santa visit. I guess they did that over the weekend this year, so we feared the golf cart parade also had already happened. Luckily, it was still on for the 24th, as it should be! The parade started at 7pm, but we left our RV to observe the festivities at 5:45. It was a great way to celebrate.
Emerson fell asleep 20 minutes before the parade. He was awake on the way home, but miserably tired. Adelaide got tired on the walk back home. They were both sound asleep pretty quickly for Santa to wrap presents and deliver them under the tree before falling asleep too. A family tradition of mine is to sleep under the tree on Christmas Eve in hopes of catching Santa. It’s a tradition Karissa and I have carried on with our kids.
The first words out of Adelaide’s mouth at 6:30 were “Did Santa come!?” Mommy told her to look under the tree. Lo and behold! Santa came! She instantly got full of energy and woke up Emerson, who would have slept for another hour or more. She handed out presents to everybody and opened hers first. Then helped Emerson open his. Mom and Dad didn’t give each other anything this year, just a box of chocolates.
After presents, we continued our Sun-N-Fun tradition by having a buffet lunch at the poolside restaurant. It’s mostly homestyle foods. Nothing fancy, but all pretty good. Like you’d eat at a family reunion.
We’re wrapping up Christmas 2018 by taking a family nap and then heading to the pool.
We hope your Christmas was as great as ours. Merry Christmas!
Merry, Happy, Joy to you and yours!
