We don’t know what caused it, but Emerson has become a puzzle fiend. He used to hate puzzles. He just had zero interest in them. Meanwhile, Adelaide was a puzzle-master at his age – doing up to 10 at a time. Well, the switch flipped in Emerson and he’s doing puzzles. He approaches them far differently from Adelaide, but is equally good (if not better) versus her at this age. He chooses which piece to find, then finds it. Adelaide would pick up a piece and figure out where it goes. It’s the first thing Emerson wants to do when he wakes up and where he takes Mommy when she gets home.
Adelaide’s friend turned 4 and had a birthday party. This is the card she made for her. And their humongous collection of toys – basically a daycare! Emerson even found a few he recognized from home.
Other than that, we’ve slowly been getting into the swing of things. While Adelaide goes to preschool, Emerson plays at the YMCA’s KidZone and I exercise. We go to the library on Wednesdays. Mondays are when the kids go to my parents’ house so I can work on our basement renovation. Friday is my only full day alone with the kids and is the day we’re still trying to figure out how to fill with fun. Karissa and I are playing volleyball 3 days a week and I’m starting to play basketball another of the days.
Finally, Adelaide had a Thanksgiving event at her preschool. The kids wore turkey hats and did a few chants & dances before having a “feast” of cupcakes, cookies, cheese, and apples on the floor. It was pretty cute and Adelaide was feeling giving enough to share with Emerson. She’s now off of school until after Thanksgiving.
