Since her first sleepover at her cousin’s house a month or so ago, Adelaide has wanted a “big girl bed” with “two sides”…also known as a double bed. Her other girl cousin has a twin bed with a pull-out trundle underneath. We like the idea of a smaller bed most of the time with the option to make two beds. Even better, the option to make a big bed out of the small one. Luckily, Ikea has just the thing with a twin bed that can be transformed into two twin beds that are at the same level – making one large bed. So we loaded up the truck and set off.
We had pretty much made our decision before leaving about which bed to buy, but if something special caught Adelaide’s eye, we may have given in. The bed we wanted had a see-through canopy over it. Adelaide thought it was the prettiest, funnest thing ever and chose that bed right away. No other beds mattered to her after that.
We wove through the store and escaped about $900 poorer. Plus a very happy girl. Arriving home, we instantly got to work and finished putting it together around 8:30pm.
Even knowing what her bed was going to look like, seeing it in person (in her room) made her beyond happy. She was giddy. As was her brother. They played on the new bed. Emerson went to sleep. And then Adelaide got to sleep in her new bed.
Emerson and I have been doing a same-but-different matching outfits thing this week. We both wore our Jordan shoes. We both wore plaid shirts with jeans. It’s sort of fun. I see why moms like to match their daughters.
Just a picture of my three girls: Adelaide, Karissa, and Ruby.
About a year ago, we did a 15K. We each got hats, but Karissa doesn’t wear hats, so hers became mine. I left one in the closet and took the other on our RV roadtrip. It’s amazing what the sun and some water can do to fabric!
Adelaide was given the Show-and-Tell bag this week. This is what she chose to bring.
To cap off the week, we decided to start making YouTube videos. I found a family that dreamed of sailing the world. They decided they could take a big RV trip without waiting, which might satisfy some of their sailing desires for the time being. So they took a 6-month trip. That was over 2 years ago. They never stopped RV traveling. We fight our own urge to resume the trip and spend at least another year on the road. Maybe more. We figure getting set up on YouTube now, before any planned trips, and debating what to do with our lives might make for decent content. We’d love for you to subscribe to our channel!
