It’s been a week of hellos. Karissa’s parents returned from Florida for the summer. We saw my friend Nick and his girlfriend in town; recall we saw them on our road trip down in Houston. Karissa and the kids saw her cousin and her kid (soon to be another kid) up in Wisconsin; along with her aunt & uncle. Meanwhile, I had lunch with my best childhood friend and his wife as they were passing through town. I haven’t seen them in over two years! It’s always great to say a bunch of hellos to people we haven’t seen in far too long.
On the goodbye side, our friends we saw in Las Vegas, had planned to spend their summer around here. Well, it turns out there wasn’t work here for them like they’d planned. They debated what to do and wound up choosing to leave for California. We thought we’d see them quite a bit – playgrounds, pool, etc – but saw them just the one time to say goodbye.
While Karissa took the kids to Wisconsin, I resumed work on our basement renovation. We’re hoping to get it done by mid-August. A bulk of the work is already done. I’m currently getting it ready for drywall, which is probably about 4-5 days of work away.
Emerson is turning into a walking machine. It started with him walking while he thought we weren’t watching. Then pushing things around. Now, he’s choosing to walk whenever possible. It’s funny to watch and cool to see.
Meanwhile, Adelaide is a bike-riding machine. She gets better every day at riding her bike with training wheels. She used to need help getting moving and then it was steering. Now she only needs help to stop. Fun, fun, fun!
