Princess Party

Life on the road has made Adelaide crave interaction with kids. She sees kids on the playground or at the pool and calls them her friends. She wants to play with them, and does fairly often, but it’s not the same as playing with her actual friends back home. So we decided that we’d throw a late birthday party for Adelaide to play with her friends while we were back home. Being obsessed with dresses and princesses, we made it a themed party.

Karissa bought princess dressed for each of the little girls that came. And had crowns and magic wands that they could decorate. In addition to the costumes and crafts, she played a version of a cake walk and Bozo buckets. Plus, lots of unstructured play for all of the girls. At first, Adelaide was shy – but a little sugar sparked her into having a blast with her real friends.

Rather than some boring cake, Uncle Scott and I made a castle out of legos, gold spray paint, and paper to properly display cupcakes in a princess-themed way. Being guys, we went overboard and made it huge.
