After Biloxi, MS, we continued west to Louisiana. We had found quite a few amazing RV resorts with massive waterparks through our Good Sam app. The problem is that it’s not quite warm enough for outdoor waterparks yet. Some more hunting and we came across a place with an indoor waterpark in addition to an outdoor waterpark. The pictures looked amazing, so we decided to spend the week of Adelaide’s 3rd birthday there. Using our Passport America discount, the nightly rate was only $22!
Firstly, the resort is amazing! Seemingly no expense was spared in its construction. It has been open for just over 2 years and is modern, clean, and beautiful. The landscaping and attention to detail is on-par with Disney. And that’s not stretching the truth. The place caters mostly to weekenders and local-ish vacationers.
During our stay, we were literally the only guests. The temperatures were in the low 70’s, so not too cold for snowbirds or full-timing families. We found the staff to be extremely welcoming, friendly, and beyond amazing. The general manager even gave Adelaide a gift basket, cookies, and muffins! Thanks so much for the generosity!
We enjoyed the indoor waterpark. It had a small slide and splash pad that Adelaide and Emerson loved. They also had a medium-sized slide into a pool that Adelaide and I loved. It was big enough and fast enough to be both fun and safe. The hot tub is where Karissa and Emerson hung out.
We ventured into Bunkie and Marksville on separate occasions to get some tastes of Louisiana and experience a bit more of the state than hanging out at the RV resort alone. We sampled some crawfish etouffee, boudin, cracklins, and a shrimp po’ boy. The local donut shop had some good stuff too. Karissa and I plan to visit New Orleans in the not-too-distant-future, so the small sample we got of Louisiana will suffice for now.
Now, we’re headed onward to Texas for a few weeks. Hoping for warm weather and sunshine because we seriously considered going back to Florida instead. I guess we got spoiled down there and have gone soft.
