We’re finally leaving Lazydays. It’s been a blast! We’ve been here for nearly a month, and have the itch to get moving again. There’s something special about this place and the people it attracts. It’s definitely worth a stop, if you’re on the road looking for a place to relax.
We made friends with 3 families for 3 different reasons during our stay.
The first was a girl from Wisconsin that came down with her mom to visit her grandparents who were staying here. She was a 4th grader, but she and Adelaide (and Emerson) had some sort of instant connection. They played for hours together every day at the pool. She taught Adelaide quite a bit and helped her get over some water fears like getting water in her eyes. By the end of their 10 days of pool fun, Adelaide was diving for rings and floating by herself on a noodle. During the girls’ hours of fun at the pool, we talked fairly extensively with her mom and grandparents. They are lovely people. We even talked to the grandparents a bit when the girl and her mom had to go back north.
The second family we made friend with were our neighbors for 10 days or so. They’re a family of four from Tennessee and are trying to spend about 40% of their time on the road. The dad runs a business remotely and the mom, a former teacher, homeschools their two boys. I think they were about 11 and 9, but I don’t recall exactly. The boys and their dad LOVED fishing. So much so that their freezer at home, in their RV, and their stomachs were so full of fish that mom made them give away their catch. We were the beneficiary of this three times. They gave us at least 10-12 fillets of sea bass. It was delectable. We can’t thank them enough for the fish. We also talked to them quite a bit about general stuff and why they’re travelling and homeschooling versus a more traditional life. They too were great people.
The final family we befriended is currently full-timing in their 5th wheel. They’re a family of 4 with a 12 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. The father works remotely while mom homeschools the kids. We had quite a few breakfasts together, played at the playground and pool, and spent a day at the beach with them. Adelaide loved playing with their little girl. I spent a few fun-filled hours hunting for shells with their boy at the beach. They’re a really cool family and we hope to see them up north as their travels take them to our neck of the woods.
We’re headed around the Gulf and trying to get out of Florida, where we’ve been for 2 months! We’ve got a stop planned in Mississippi as well as Louisiana before Texas. It’s going to be fun to experience new places and cultures. We just hope the weather is as nice as it’s been here the last few weeks!
Oh, how I miss those growing kiddos! I love the time you had meeting other people who were generous with their fish! You made good friends and memories! Love you!
Yeah, we were fortunate to meet a few neat families. And are looking forward to seeing them again and continuing to meet new folks.
